What is BSL?
Many people think sign language is universal, but this is not true! British Sign Language (BSL) is the primary signed language of the Deaf Community in the UK and is officially recognised in England, Wales, and Scotland.

Over 87,000 people in the UK use BSL as their first or preferred language.
It has its own grammar and structure, separate from English.
There are over 300 different sign languages worldwide - each unique.
BSL has regional variations, much like spoken accents.
BSL is a rich, visual language which uses. variation of facial expressions and gestures, it has been evolving for centuries, with the earliest recorded use in England dating back to 1576.

We offer nationally accredited Signature Level 1, 2, and 3 courses, as well as intensive and bespoke training for individuals and businesses.
Flexible options include taster sessions and full qualifications, all regulated by Ofqual and Signature.
